Suz by the Sea chronicles the salt life adventures of Susan Pauer
Susan was born on a small island in the eastern Pacific, but grew up in the American landlocked state of Wisconsin. Much of her childhood consisted of daily forest explorations, catching frogs and snakes, riding horses, wading barefoot into streams to fish, and snorkeling in the bathtub with a straw.
Family vacations took her to exciting places like New York City, Los Angeles, the Grand Canyon, Florida, San Francisco, Maine, Mount Rushmore, and Washington D.C. At age 16, she got a job at a hardware store and saved up money for a plane ticket—to Iceland—to explore its darkly beautiful coastlines, geothermal vents, and fuzzy Icelandic ponies.
After studying a mixture of pre-med/pre-vet, natural resources, and communications in college, Susan eventually made her escape from Wisconsin October of 2011, and ended up in Tampa, FL. This is where she pursued her passion for the salt life and science, chasing fish and earning her Masters in Science.
Today, Susan continues her passion for scuba diving and spearfishing, as well as other outdoor activities, and has plans to get into freediving and sailing.
